Creamy Garlic Hummus

Hummus has always been a Go-TO SNACK in my house so it only made sense to share this one with you all. This is a great BASE RECIPE for adding in different FLAVORS AND TOPPINGS! I typically serve my hummus in a plate or shallow bowl with a drizzle of a bit more olive oil and some red chili flakes. My favorite blender add-ins are sun dried tomatoes, the ones packed in oil are the most flavorful, or you can add in 1/2 teaspoon of zatar for more middle eastern flavor.

PREP TIME: 5 minutes l COOK TIME: 0 minutes l TOTAL TIME: 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 can chickpeas (drained and rinsed)

  • 1/4 cup lemon juice

  • 1/4 cup of tahini

  • 2 big cloves of freshly peeled garlic (smashed or chopped)

  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin

  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon salt, add more to your taste if needed

Directions

Serving size: 2-3 people

  1. Blend together tahini, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, salt and cumin in a food processor until smooth; this should take about 15 seconds.

  2. Once the mixture blended and smooth, add in the chick peas and process until desired texture. I personally love my hummus super smooth over chunky so I tend to blend it a few minutes longer.

*If you feel like you have chunks stuck on the side of the food processor, push them down with a spatula and run the processor again for a few additional seconds.
